Two Great, Free Courses in Data Science Are Starting Today

Coursera is a great resource for continuing your learning and education as a software engineer and/or expanding into the field of data science. In this post, I discuss two free courses in data science they are offering. While I have become a bit dismayed by their increasing prices over the years, and I have started to take more courses at Udacity (see details on the Self-Driving Car Nanodegree program that I am currently in here – more blog posts on this are soon to come – I have just been buried in the coursework – much more demanding than I expected). You can see a list of my achievements at Coursera here – go to the page then click on “see all”.

The free courses in data science that I have enrolled in at Coursera which are starting today are:

Introduction to Deep Learning which goes through basic models, TensorFlow, Keras, CNN, and RNN and is a part of a 7-course specialization.

I am also taking the second course in this series:

How to Win a Data Science Competition: Learn from Top Kagglers which provides a refresher on some basic data science knowledge then quickly jumps into data pre-processing, analyzing and building an intuition around the data, then building and tuning models.

They definitely sound interesting and challenging; please note that you can take these classes for free by “auditing” them, but you will have to pay for them if you want a certificate in them and/or want a certificate for the specialization.

I will keep posting what I think of the courses as I progress through them.
